How much does a flying dress photoshoot cost?

Sessions start at $599 on the Outer Banks. Elsewhere in North Carolina they run $749 to $1,099 depending on the city, with travel included and no additional fees. Every session includes the dress rental, a professional photographer, an on-site assistant, 10 edited high-resolution images and one souvenir print handed to you on the day.

What sizes do the flying dresses come in?

Every flying dress in the collection fits sizes 00 through 28. Whatever size you wear, there is a gown here for you. If you have a question about fit, call or text and just ask.

How soon do I get my photos?

You leave the beach with one printed photo the same day. Your full gallery of 10 edited high-resolution images arrives within 14 business days. If you are working to a deadline, one or two images can usually be sent early so you have something to share while the rest are being edited.

What do I wear under a flying dress?

Bathing suit bottoms that match your dress color, or black or nude. Avoid shapewear or anything reaching down the thighs, as it shows when the dress moves. No bra or top is needed, though a bandeau or tank works if you want more coverage.

I have never done a photoshoot before. Will I feel awkward?

No experience is needed. Marina directs every pose and every movement of the dress, so there is nothing you need to know in advance. Most clients arrive nervous and are surprised by their own photographs.

What happens if it rains on the day of my photoshoot?

Outer Banks weather is unpredictable at certain times of year and we plan for it. The first option is always to reschedule your session, with no penalty.

Where do the photoshoots take place?

The Outer Banks of North Carolina, from Corolla down to Hatteras, and by arrangement in Raleigh, Wilmington, Charlotte, Asheville, Greensboro, Jacksonville and Topsail. Outer Banks sessions run year-round.

Where do I change into the dress?

A private changing tent is set up on site for privacy, and cold bottled water is provided.

Do you provide hair or makeup?

Not at this time. We hope to partner with local artists in the future.

Is the dress included in the package or do I have to bring my own?

A gorgeous flying dress rental, in the color and style you choose, is included in your package. We keep nine dresses in eight colors, in two styles. Both are infinity dresses, wrapped and tied to fit you: the one-piece is the classic deep-V, and the two-piece adds a flouncy top over the skirt, so you get movement up top as well as in the train. You’ll choose yours when you book. If you would like your shoot to include a second color dress rental, it can be added on, for an additional fee, during the checkout process.

Where are you located?

We are based year-round on the gorgeous Outer Banks of North Carolina. The OBX, as it’s referred to, is a stretch of roughly 175 miles on the northeastern seaboard of North Carolina. From points south, like Wilmington, you can drive here in approximately 4.5 hours. From points in the Piedmont area like Raleigh, approximately 3.5 hours. From the mountain regions like Charlotte, about 6 hours, or Asheville, approximately 7.5 hours.

What beach/area do you do these photos?

That’s up to you and which package you choose. Our “Just You and the Dress” package includes the Outer Banks from Corolla down to Hatteras — nothing north of Corolla or south of Hatteras.

“Our Mountains to Sea” package is any other beach or area outside of the OBX, here in the state of North Carolina. This package includes all related travel fees when booking a 1 person photoshoot. This package starts at $749 for the Chesapeake area and Hampton Roads, $899 for Jacksonville, Topsail or Raleigh, $949 for Wilmington or Greensboro, and $1,099 for Charlotte, Asheville and western North Carolina. When and how do I pay?

All payments are made by card when you book, online. We don’t take cash, checks, or payment apps.

If your shoot is 15 or more days out, a 50% non-refundable booking fee reserves your date, time and dress color, and the balance is due 14 days before your shoot. You’re welcome to pay in full up front instead. If you’re booking through our online store, choose “Pay deposit” at checkout to split it.

If your shoot is less than 15 days out, book the Last-Minute Flying Dress Shoot and pay in full at the time of booking. With that little lead time we’re ordering, cleaning and prepping right away, so we collect the whole amount up front. In-stock dress colors only.

That booking fee helps us prepare for your shoot: confirming our photography assistant, securing the dress if it isn’t in stock, making sure it’s clean and ready for you, and obtaining any photography permits we need. If you encounter any issues, please contact us. Our goal is to take great photos, not to take advantage of you. Preparing for your North Carolina Flying Dress Photoshoot involves significant effort on our part, and we want you to have an amazing experience. We are happy to work with you to find solutions if any challenges arise.

Can my person come along and have a few photos together?

YES! We do allow a few photos of you and your person :) However, if the second person will be wearing a flying dress, there is a second person and dress fee.

Do you provide makeup or hair styling?

No, unfortunately, we do not. We hope to partner with some artists in the future.

Where do I change?

We have a changing tent that we provide on site for privacy. We also pack nice cold, bottled, spring water for you

What do I wear under the dress?

Wear a bathing suit bottom in any of the following choices: one that matches your dress color, black or nude. The dress will fly up for the photo, so bathing suit bottoms are best. Please avoid shapewear or anything that goes down the thighs, as it can be visible in moving pictures. No bras or tops are needed unless you want a tank top, bandeau, or t-shirt underneath for extra coverage. The dress keeps everything in place, and we will provide tape, or you can bring your own!
